Retina Vitreous Foundation
The Retina Vitreous Foundation (RV Foundation) was established in 2010 by Dr. David Boyer to provide free medical treatment for individuals suffering from diseases of the retina and vitreous and to fund research into those diseases.
From the newborn baby with retinopathy of prematurity to the active senior with age-related macular degeneration, visual loss secondary to retinal diseases spans all ages with a major impact on function and quality of life. Working with world-class ophthalmologists specializing in diseases of the retina and vitreous, the Retina Vitreous Foundation focuses on diagnostic and treatment options for a spectrum of conditions including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and hereditary retinal degenerations.
Clinical research is also a critical component of the RV Foundation. Research addresses the spectrum of retinal diseases, including hereditary retinal degenerations such as retinitis pigmentosa, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vascular occlusion. The RV Foundation may provide funding for educational seminars as well, for both patients and physicians.
The RV Foundation solicits support from individuals and from other foundations, particularly foundations whose primary mission is providing medical care, educational services, etc. to those unable to afford them. Contributions to the RV Foundation come principally from patients or ex-patients of Retina Vitreous Associates Medical Group, with the understanding that no part of the contribution will be used to provide services to the donor or to relatives of the donor.
