Dr. David S. Boyer helped co-pioneer the formation of Retina Vitreous Associates Medical Group in Los Angeles, March 1, 1982. Since then the group has grown. Now, with seven other doctors (Dr. Roger L. Novack, Dr. Thomas G. Chu, Dr. Firas M. Rahhal, Dr. Homayoun Tabandeh, Dr. J. Jill Hopkins, Dr. Richard Roe and Dr. Pouya N. Dayani ) and four other locations in Beverly Hills (1987), in the San Fernando Valley (1994), in the South Bay area (1998) and in the Santa Clarita Valley (2006), Retina Vitreous Associates Medical Group has become a nationally recognized leader and continues to serve communities in Southern California. The group specializes in the treatment of diseases affecting the retina, the vitreous and the macula, more common of which are macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, retinitis, uveitis, ocular tumors and pediatric retinal diseases. Retina-Vitreous Associates Medical Group houses state of the art diagnostic equipment and treatment facilities, including a Visual Function Laboratory that offers full service electrophysiology testing. The physicians at Retina-Vitreous Associates Medical Group are leaders and participate in most clinical trials assessing new therapies for macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy among other retinal diseases. Retina-Vitreous Associates Medical Group has one of only two noncontact widefield fluorescein angiography units available in California. Our physicians are widely published, including journal articles and books, and are invited to lecture all over the world. In addition to its clinical services, Retina-Vitreous Associates Medical Group provides continuing education and consulting services to the local, national and international ophthalmic communities and other healthcare industries.
Each doctor in our group is board certified in ophthalmology and has completed formal subspecialty training in medical and surgical diseases of the retina, vitreous and macula. Each member is nationally recognized for their participation in research and educational programs primarily aimed at understanding the causes of retinal diseases and developing novel treatments.
